Terry received his Masters degree in Education from Rutgers, where he also earned his Bachelors degree in Communication.

Terry lives in New Brunswick with his wife Joan, and sons Kevin and David.

In his spare time, Terry writes a blog, called Here We Are. What Now? where he muses about various topics including organizations, leadership, learning, and change, and he was a contributing author to the chapter on Internal OD in the second edition of Practicing Organization Development, published in 2005.

Committed to helping others, Terry co-founded the St Matthias Employment Ministry in Somerset NJ, which helps people who are looking for work.
